High Honor: Federal Cross of Merit for Our Food Bank Founder Bernd Neitzert

A very special award for a tireless helper: At Namedy Castle in Andernach, Bernd Neitzert was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. This prestigious honor recognizes his decades of outstanding commitment to the common good.

In the year 2000, Bernd Neitzert founded the non-profit Koblenz Food Bank (Koblenzer Tafel) and headed the association as its first chairman for many years. He is now the honorary chairman and remains closely connected to our organization.

The fact that his heart beats for people in need is evident not only in the distribution of food but also in his other projects: In addition, he launched the “Versteckte Engel” (Hidden Angels) in 2005, which collects money for children in emergencies to enable them, for example, to participate in school trips. Neitzert is also the initiator and chairman of the Mayen-based association “Die Brücke” (The Bridge), which stands for neighborhood assistance.

We, the entire volunteer team at the Koblenz Food Bank, wholeheartedly congratulate Bernd Neitzert on this well-deserved award and thank him for his continuous dedication to the people in our region!
