About us
Tafel Koblenz was founded on July 15, 2000.
Since our inception 25 years ago, we have rescued approximately 22,000 tons of food from being destroyed, making a significant contribution to climate protection. This represents a total value of more than €50 million in distributed food.
In 2005, the donation platform “Versteckte Engel” (Hidden Angels) was integrated into our organization. For over 20 years, they have provided nearly €1 million in support to countless children in need. This funding helps parents who are unable to fulfill basic childhood needs and wishes, such as school bags, class trips, or Christmas presents.
Currently, the “Hidden Angels” provide school breakfasts at six schools in Koblenz and Lahnstein, two of which are official projects of Tafel Deutschland.
Our operations are powered by 260 dedicated volunteers who collect and distribute food at 9 distribution points. Each year, they handle approximately 1,500 tons of food with an estimated value of €6 million. This work provides vital financial relief to 1,100 households, supporting over 5,000 individuals. To ensure food safety and efficiency, six modern refrigerated vehicles are in service every day.
Our volunteers contribute a remarkable 80,000 hours of service annually—and they do so with great joy. Furthermore, we support 10 neighboring food banks and 12 social institutions with approximately 1,000 pallets of food per year. Many animal shelters and welfare organizations also receive pet food from us.
