2026 Starts with Distinguished Guests at the Koblenz Food Bank

The volunteers of the Koblenz Food Bank started the new year with distinguished guests: Mother Superior Sister Annemarit, representing the house, as well as Mother Superior Sister Helen, representing the Haus Emilie infirmary, gained an insight into the association’s range of tasks and work. The Lord Mayor of the city of Koblenz, David Langner, also accepted the invitation of the 1st Chairman, Peter Bäsch.

After a short briefing on the founding history of the Koblenz Food Bank (Tafel Koblenz) in 2000, its current structure, the volunteer helpers, the number of supported individuals and distribution points, all the way to the modern vehicle fleet and digitalization, a tour of the storage facilities was given. Since the donated goods at the food bank are also subject to food law regulations, separation and storage in dry storage areas, cold rooms, and freezers are mandatory.

The visitors were deeply impressed by the work being done and the dedication of the many volunteers. The two Sister Superiors were delighted that such a successful organization was able to grow on their premises.

The Lord Mayor then did not miss the opportunity to lend a hand himself with repacking the food and goods: “The Koblenz Food Bank makes an important contribution to providing for those in need in the Koblenz area. I can only imagine what the more than 260 volunteers accomplish on a daily basis, and I wanted to see the sometimes very physical labor for myself. You have my deepest respect for the valuable work of the food bank, and I will always have an open ear for your concerns.”
